TIGG & BUD are out of TALLY (left)....and have some superb collies in their pedigrees. They are sired by 2 totally different sires.    Sables and tricolours are hoped for, and as usual, it's always best to book your puppy from Cownbred..... as we work on a first come-first served basis.....and because of my association with Smooths for the past  32 yrs....I do have quite a following......Some of my puppy homes are on their 3rd smooth from us now...and you'll find they are very addictive.  Actually, so are the Whippets !!!!

SMOOTH COLLIES ARE A VULNERABLE NATIVE BREED...................

Compare 60 to 70 SMOOTH pups per year registered with the KC to 45,000 labradors reg with the KC per yr.  THE SMOOTH IS NOT, AND HOPEFULLY WILL NEVER BE OVER POPULAR AND OVERBRED LIKE SOME OTHER BREEDS, because that's when the real troubles begin for the breed!!!  

 As yet the SMOOTH is very healthy, both physically and mentally, very safe with knowledgable  families and in the hands of intelligent, caring, decent breeders.   May it always stay this way.

 

THE SMOOTH COLLIE IS THE IDEAL FAMILY COMPANION.. Holly (12)and Tally(2) left with my grandsons Matthew and Terence. They lend themselves equally well to agility, obedience, assistance and  PAT dogs. There are SMOOTH guide dogs and in Jan 2011...COWNBRED FINLAY (Finn) qualified as the first  SMOOTH Search and Rescue dog in GB. FINN is below at  4 mths  of age....on the back of his settee  looking out of the window probably wishing he was out there......  Bless!!!  ***************************************************

16/01/2011  FINN IS NOW A QUALIFIED S & R DOG WITH ROSSENDALE AND PENDLE MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM....HE QUALIFIED WITH FLYING COLOURS. Photos of him out working are on my facebook page. This is FINN on his way to work..Head on Steve's knee being driven to the hills where he will do the job he enjoys so much.  Photo at 3 yrs of age.

Above.... head study of Cownbred Finlay......the combination of brains and beauty. He has a beautiful head and correct sweet expression. His body is well made, muscular, and strong. Correct body length to height ratio.  Good shoulder and stifle. Moves well.  A beautiful clever and very useful member of the community.  I am very proud of him and thank his owner Steve, for giving him this chance to work and show what SMOOTHS can really do.

A truly  all round breed.......

SMOOTHS are also working sheep and cattle all over the world....and of course  they do very well in the show ring at all types of shows, from the local FUN SHOW to the greatest show on earth...............CRUFTS.

MARY above,, had a superb litter early 2011 and I've kept MARTHA, a gorgeous tri bitch from the mating between ARVO and MARY.

Here is ARVO left, with MARTHA right, at 4 mths .....I have high hopes for MARTHA.  

ARVO is looking for a loving permanent family home as I have little room and when my girls come in season, ARVO stops eating!!!!!   He is an excellent stud dog and I'd prefer that he went to a homer where he could be available at stud, as he is siring very good quality smooths. It would be such a waste for him not to be available to be used again...as his breeding incorporates some lines that are not found in any other dog.

I adore having pups at home .....rearing pups is  a wonderful adventure which I always treasure....Watching puppies thrive and grow is a perfect 'time waster'....but never a waste of time when you see the wonderful babies you've bred....and the faces of the lovely families who eventually take them home.

 

Above is TALLY doing what she does best....she is the  most precious SMOOTH and I adore everything about her.

All pups are bred with a great deal of thought and knowledge to produce healthy, extrovert, true to standard  stock.....so that when you buy a pup from COWNBRED you know I've done my best for the baby before it was conceived, when it was born, and before you take him/her home.  I then expect you to keep up the good work for the rest of the dog's life.
